This movie was created to show, in schematic form, the deposition of the Calvert Cliffs fossil beds. The cliffs contain alternating shell beds and mud layers that were deposited in shallow and deep waters as the Miocene shoreline moved back and forth across this area.
The download package includes images of the cliffs, the movie, and an explanatory figure describing the movie.

This movie was originally created to be incorporated into an introductory movie for the Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons, Maryland. The animation was created by Tanya Atwater using Photoshop and Morph. Thanks to Peter Vogt for education and guidance.
