Formation of the Miocene Fossil Beds in the Calvert Cliffs, Chesapeake Bay, schematic animation

This movie was created to show, in schematic form, the deposition of the Calvert Cliffs fossil beds. The cliffs contain alternating shell beds and mud layers that were deposited in shallow and deep waters as the Miocene shoreline moved back and forth across this area.
The download package includes images of the cliffs, the movie, and an explanatory figure describing the movie.
